Community Day with AltCity
AltCity, located on floor M of the Montreal Building on Hamra Street, Beirut, Lebanon
When: Sunday, December 16, 12pm-4pm.
Community Day is being organized by Migrant Workers Task Force and AltCity. It will bring together Lebanese, migrant workers, and expats living in Beirut in order to encourage and facilitate joyful interaction between diverse communities. Everyone is invited for a day filled with food, activities, and storytelling to spread awareness of issues that migrant workers face in Lebanon. Participants are encouraged to bring a dish to eat and a friend to join in our effort to break down social boundaries.
During Community Day, an exhibition of photo stories created by migrant workers plus a series of infographics visualizing migrant workers’ rights and issues will also be launched at AltCity. The photo exhibition entitled “Lens On Life” is the result of a series of multimedia workshops led by Ann Megalla and AltCity. The infographic exhibition entitled “Visualizing Migrant Rights” is the result of a series of information design workshops led by Joumana Ibrahim.
This event and exhibition falls under AltCity’s “Media for Human Rights” program that is being supported by the Netherlands Embassy in Lebanon.
